Lakeside Leisure Centre has been ranked number one out of nineteen Belgravia Leisure managed Aquatic Facilities in the 2017-18 Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment conducted by Royal Life Saving NSW.

For two consecutive years, Belgravia Leisure has partnered Royal Life Saving NSW to complete an Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment of all aquatic facilities operated by Belgravia Leisure.

Matt Griffiths, General Manager of Royal Life Saving NSW says, “The commitment of Belgravia Leisure and Port Stephens Councils partnership has been the driving force to the high standards that have demonstrated in the most recent assessment.”

Lakeside Leisure Centre scored an outstanding 97.71%, and Tomaree Aquatic Centre wasn’t far behind with 94.83% and ranked equal 4th with Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre.

Nicole Dunn, Northern NSW Area Manager was extremely proud of the continued performance and achievement in all areas of Aquatic Safety. "The results of the 2017/18 Royal Life Safety Assessment Audit is a testament to the hard work and commitment of Belgravia Leisure Staff. The fact we have managed to have all three Port Stephens Aquatic Facilities achieve safety assessment ratings well above the NSW three year average, once again demonstrates the strength of the partnership with Port Stephens Council, who proactively work with us every day to ensure the highest level of safety provision across all sites.”

Port Stephens Council contract and services coordinator Ian Crawford said the results were a resounding endorsement.

"To be ranked among the safest pools in the state is a great achievement and highlights the quality of the facilities we have in our region as well as the dedication of the staff," he said.

Tilligerry Aquatic Centre were close behind scoring 89.73%, and well above the NSW 3 year average of 84.50%.

Operating for over 30 years, Tomaree Aquatic Centre’s manager Suellen Goyne said the results are particularly impressive given the age of the facilities.

"These results are fantastic, particularly when you consider that our pools have out-performed much newer, far more modern facilities.”
